A Day Late and a Baby Short

So AF arrived today, fashionably late by 1 day (which is not her style, and incredibly RUDE if you ask me). I had pretty much accepted the fact days ago that I was not pregnant due to my lack of symptoms. But my husband was convinced (just as he has been in previous months) that I was pregnant, so he continued to badger me to "pee on a stick." His enthusiasm made me keep hope alive, to no avail.

So today starts day 1 of cycle 4...and I'm not motivated to do anything today but sleep. I got home from work and was in my pjs in bed by 3pm today. Next month I might look into PreSeed or charting my temp, but I can't begin to think about any of that right now.

Round 3 of TTC - Testing Day

Kudos to Tracy for keeping me on top of things with my blogging! Sometimes I forget people out there are actually reading this! I tested today (and yesterday, and the day before if we're being honest!) and got a BFN. I've been very tired and had a couple strange new pinching pangs in the last 2 days next to my belly button. But I've basically been getting new and unusual symptoms every month, so I've been trying not to think about it. I feel like I should be experiencing more symptoms if I was pregnant.

The wierd thing is that AF should be arriving either today or tomorrow, and I've had absolutely no AF symptoms either, which is unusual for me. So I really don't know what to make of this month. I will update again when I know for sure.

If I'm not pregnant this month, I was thinking I might try PreSeed for next month...does anyone have any experience (positive or negative) with that? I'd appreciate your advice!

Why Can't a Doctor Just be a Doctor?

I am a teacher. NOT a teacher and an astronaut. NOT a teacher and a circus clown. I picked ONE career, because that’s what grown-ups do. But in my quest for a new doctor (preferably an OB-GYN since I’m hoping to be “with child” soon), I have come across several doctors with budding side careers, and it’s starting to piss me off.

Doctor #1 is the closest doctor to my house, and was my first choice. Then I found out she is an aspiring singer and has a new cd out which features her singing – in Spanish. She actually uses her real name followed by “M.D.” on the cd! I heard clips of this load of musical crap online and she should really stick to her day job OF SAVING LIVES.

Doctor #2 is an OB-GYN and got great reviews for her pleasant demeanor, but several people said she seemed preoccupied and rushed through appointments. Why is she so busy, you ask? Because she has a TV show. About delivering babies. And she’s beautiful, which I really don’t need when I’m sweating and shoving a grapefruit out of a hole the size of a grape. Is she going to be worrying about how the lighting is hitting her when I’m in labor? Sorry, Susan Lucci, I don’t think so.

Doctor #3 is another promising OB-GYN. She owns her own practice! It’s a laser dermatology center. WTF? Her “about me” on her laser page actually mentions her being an OB-GYN. Um, multiple personalities, much? I just don’t get how you can be successful at both. I feel like every time I talk to her she would be thinking about how to fix my F’d up skin. Although maybe she can fix stretch marks? I dunno, too weird.

ATTENTION ALL DOCTORS: There’s this thing called Google. And your patients can pretty much stalk you. Your little side projects affect what your potential patients think of you, and your crappy little demo is unprofessional, ESPECIALLY if you advertise that you’re a doctor right on the cd cover! Grow up. Being a doctor is a worthwhile profession in and of itself. You will gain a lot more respect (and patients) if you show the world that your passion is being a doctor.

Sugar and Spice Saturday 4/17/10

My buddy Kat over at Kat's Confessions had a great idea to exchange recipes every Saturday! This works out great for me, because I usually do my grocery shopping on Sundays.

Here is my recipe for this week. I actually found this in a Vons circular ad, and my husband loves it.

Cheesy Stuffed Meatballs & Spaghetti

Ingredients:

- 1 lb. ground beef (I don't eat beef, so I used turkey)
- 1/2 cup Italian style bread crumbs
- 1 egg
- 2 oz. mozzarella cheese, cut into 12 (1/2-in.) cubes
- 1 jar pasta sauce
- 8 oz spaghetti, cooked and drained

Directions:

1. Combine ground beef, bread crumbs and egg in medium bowl; shape into 12 meatballs. Press 1 cheese cube into each meatball, enclosing completely.
2. Bring pasta sauce to boil in a 3-qt. saucepan over medium-high heat. Gently stir in uncooked meatballs.
3. Reduce heat to low and simmer covered, stirring occasionally, 20 min. or until meatballs are done. Serve over hot spaghetti.

That's it! So easy, a little messy, and really tasty...Enjoy!

I get to share 10 random things about myself and pass the award on to 10 of my favorite bloggers.

1. I have a scar on my left index finger from trying to cut a giant Hershey’s kiss. The knife slipped.
2. I teach first grade.
3. I have 4 cats, but I also have a husband so that makes it ok.
4. My favorite experience of all time was horseback riding through a valley in Hawaii in the rain.
5. I have a newfound love of recycling.
6. I am in the process of designing a new website at http://www.mybabydust.com and I’d love for you to check it out and tell me what you think!
7. I love Easy Mac and nachos, but I hate cheese.

9. I once (intentionally) drank a bottle of Chianti in 15 minutes. Long story short, rapid Chianti consumption makes you hallucinate just a tad.
10. I get way too much joy out of finishing the last of something (shampoo, lotion, etc.) so I can throw the container away. It feels like I’m cleaning and accomplishing something!

SALE: Infant Outfits Just $10!

I just came across this great sale on infant and toddler girl clothing at The Children's Wear Outlet! (They have cute boy clothing on sale also, I just happened to find this stuff first, and this blog post could go on forever if I put all of their cute clothes on here!) They have entire outfits on sale for around $10 (marked down from about $30). Some of the outfits even include matching shoes! Here are some of my favorite styles (but they have a lot more, so you should check it out--click on any outfit and it will take you to the site where you can browse all of their sale items!).

I think I'm actually going to buy this adorable green velour hoodie and pants set in hopes that I one day have a baby girl to put it on! I'm guessing with prices like these, they will sell out fast, so get going! Happy Shopping! :)

Are you obsessed with online shopping?

Do you shop more online or in stores? I planned my entire wedding online, I buy 90% of my gifts online, and I don't even remember the last time I went to a mall. I have been buying all my ovulation and pregnancy tests online. I hardly ever buy anything in stores anymore aside from Ralphs, CVS, etc. (I secretly already started an online baby registry, and I'm not even pregnant yet...is that wierd?)

Today I found ideeli.com. Never heard of it? Neither had I. That's because it's an invite-only shopping community with prices up to $80% off. They have a home store as well has clothing for men, women, and children (they have ADORABLE baby clothes!--Under $20 for really cute outfits and sets.) Membership is FREE. Check it out at ideeli.com

Trying to Conceive, Round 3

Does making a baby seem like a chore to anyone else? I am finding myself super busy and stressed out this cycle, and I don't feel like now is a good time to conceive. I have been exhausted and unmotivated in general. My husband is as eager as ever to get pregnant, so there has been some baby dancing, but I haven't been as consistent as I was last cycle. We dtd last night, and my ovulation test was positive this morning, so there's a chance...but because I'm so stressed and busy I sort of secretly hope it doesn't happen for another month. Of course, in two weeks I will probably feel differently, so in a way I also hope that I get pregnant this month with minimum effort on my part. Hah! Does that make any sense? I have next week off because it's spring break, so maybe that will rejuvenate me and I will get tons of stuff done and I won't be as stressed and then I'll get a BFP...maybe. Hopefully, the third time's the charm.
