How to Be a Good Wife

I found this over at Happily Domestic and just had to borrow it. This is from a 1955 issue of Housekeeping Weekly. According to this guide, I'm a terrible wife! My favorite tip is "Remember, his topics of conversation are more important than yours." Also, I think it's interesting that women were encouraged to "prepare" themselves (with makeup) and their children (change their clothes, comb their hair, and encourage them to be quiet??) before their husbands got home. And a wife shouldn't question the husband, even if he stays out all night. Ha!

Round 3 of TTC - Testing Day

Kudos to Tracy for keeping me on top of things with my blogging! Sometimes I forget people out there are actually reading this! I tested today (and yesterday, and the day before if we're being honest!) and got a BFN. I've been very tired and had a couple strange new pinching pangs in the last 2 days next to my belly button. But I've basically been getting new and unusual symptoms every month, so I've been trying not to think about it. I feel like I should be experiencing more symptoms if I was pregnant.

The wierd thing is that AF should be arriving either today or tomorrow, and I've had absolutely no AF symptoms either, which is unusual for me. So I really don't know what to make of this month. I will update again when I know for sure.

If I'm not pregnant this month, I was thinking I might try PreSeed for next month...does anyone have any experience (positive or negative) with that? I'd appreciate your advice!

Honest Scrap Award

Yay! I just got my very first blog award. It was given to me by Annette and Elle. They are wonderful ladies with great blogs. You should check them out!

I get to share 10 random things about myself and pass the award on to 10 of my favorite bloggers.

1. I have a scar on my left index finger from trying to cut a giant Hershey’s kiss. The knife slipped.
2. I teach first grade.
3. I have 4 cats, but I also have a husband so that makes it ok.
4. My favorite experience of all time was horseback riding through a valley in Hawaii in the rain.
5. I have a newfound love of recycling.
6. I am in the process of designing a new website at http://www.mybabydust.com and I’d love for you to check it out and tell me what you think!
7. I love Easy Mac and nachos, but I hate cheese.
8. I am a compulsive online shopper.
9. I once (intentionally) drank a bottle of Chianti in 15 minutes. Long story short, rapid Chianti consumption makes you hallucinate just a tad.
10. I get way too much joy out of finishing the last of something (shampoo, lotion, etc.) so I can throw the container away. It feels like I’m cleaning and accomplishing something!

This awesome award is being passed on to these following fabulous bloggers:

Mom of the Week: Amy

I just stumbled across Amy's blog this morning. Amy is a mom to three girls, and she inspires me to be a better housewife. She has some wonderful (healthy) recipes and she offers great tips on living a simple, uncluttered life. I feel calmer just reading her blog! Here is a post I like: Keeping Your House Picked Up Stop by and check her out!

Free Stuff for Moms

I have seen quite a few giveaway blogs, but I haven't really been excited about any of their products until I came across TicTacDough. Tic Tac Dough has tons of useful giveaways for pregnant women and babies. (Did you know they make maternity lingerie? I didn't.)

Today I entered to win a baby bouncer by Bright Starts. It looks really comfortable and it got great reviews online. I also love that it comes in a neutral color so it won't stand out too much if it's in the living room. I think I may actually register for this if I don't win it. Is it too soon to start registering if I'm not pregnant yet??

Mommy Bloggers

I'm still new to blogging, but I've seen some great blogs so far. Even though I'm not a mom yet, I've joined Mom Bloggers Club and a few other sites, and once a week or so I will be posting links to blogs I enjoy.

Today I found Brittany's blog at http://www.mommywords.com. Brittany's posts are humorous, and she is easy to relate to. My favorite part is her "how-to" section, where she tells you step by step how she made fabulous furniture, toys for kids, and more. I'm not that crafty, but there's a couple projects I might assign to my husband! Check it out.

Success!

No, I'm not pregnant yet. Hahaha.

But I have spent all day looking for free blog layouts and backgrounds, and I actually put something together that I'm happy with! You are looking at a combination of a simple Blogger layout with a background and matching header that I found online. I changed the html font color for my post titles so it would match the header title, which I added with the program Paint.NET. It took me forever to figure out that I had to type my page title into 4 different layers and mash them all together with the blank background header. Then in the Blogger layout I selected to use a picture from my computer instead of the default title and description. Once I got the hang of Paint.NET, I made myself a new button! And it has a button on it, which I just think is fantastic! Lol. Check it out on the right sidebar under my followers.

I may fork over the cash to have my blog customized one of these days (maybe to celebrate getting knocked up?) but for now I'm happy. I do want to send a big THANK YOU to Shelley for suggesting a great blog design site which I may use in the future. Shelley's blog is gorgeous! Check it out:
